چکیده

Most eigenstructure-based blind channel identification and equalization algorithms with second-order statistics need SVD or EVD of the correlation matrix of the received signal. In this paper, we address new algorithms based on QR factorization of the received signal directly without calculating the correlation matrix. This renders the QR factorization-based algorithms more robust against ill-conditioned channels, i.e., those channels with almost common zeros among the subchannels. First, we present a block algorithm that performs the QR factorization of the received data matrix as a whole. Then, a recursive algorithm is developed based on the QR factorization by updating a rank-revealing ULV decomposition. Compared with existing algorithms in the same category, our algorithms are computationally more efficient. The computation in each recursion of the recursive algorithm is on the order of ( ) if only equalization is required, where is the dimension of the received signal vector. Our recursive algorithm preserves the fast convergence property of the subspace algorithms, thus converging faster than other adaptive algorithms such as the super-exponential algorithm with comparable computational complexities. Moreover, our proposed algorithms do not require noise variance estimation. Numerical simulations demonstrate the good performance of the proposed algorithms.

Recursive blind channel identification and equalization by ULV decomposition

An Approach to Blind Deconvolution Based on Second-order “soft” Statistics

In this paper we present a new blind equalizer that achieves identification of a channel by exploiting only second-order statistics of the observations. The novelty of the proposed approach is that the receiver accomplishes channel identification by using soft-statistics; roughly speaking, it consists of an Abend-Fritchman type [11] Maximum A Posteriori (MAP) equalizer that feeds a nonlinear Ka...

Blind equalization in the presence of jammers and unknown noise: solutions based on second-order cyclostationary statistics

This correspondence addresses the blind identification of a linear time-invariant channel using some second-order cyclostationnary statistics. In contrast to other contributions, the case where the secondorder statistics of the noise and of the jammers are totally unknown is considered. It is shown that the channel can be identified consistently by adapting the so-called subspace method of Moul...

Direct estimation of blind zero-forcing equalizers based on second-order statistics

Most existing zero-forcing equalization algorithms rely either on higher than second-order statistics or on partial or complete channel identification. We describe methods for computing fractionally spaced zero-forcing blind equalizers with arbitrary delay directly from second-order statistics of the observations without channel identification. We first develop a batch-type algorithm; then, ada...

Equalization and interference cancellation in linear multiuser systems based on second-order statistics

Potential applications of blind channel identification and equalization in data communication systems have recently been explored. For multiuser systems that are irreducible and column-reduced, second-order statistical methods normally can identify channel dynamics up to a unitary mixing matrix. Additional user separation (equalization) can rely on higher order statistics and other prior inform...
